Editor Terms and Conditions

What editors can expect from PithPlay, and what PithPlay and creators expect from editors

Last updated: October 1, 2026
Effective date: October 1, 2026
Status: PithPlay is in beta

In short

  • Editors join PithPlay by invitation from a creator, and PithPlay never charges editors.
  • You're an independent professional, not an employee or contractor of PithPlay or Artbits Solutions Ltd.
  • Your work arrangement (scope, payment, deadlines, who owns the final edit) is between you and the creator. PithPlay doesn't take a cut, isn't part of that agreement, and doesn't guarantee either side's work or payment.
  • Keep creators' content confidential, use it only for the project you're assigned, and delete your local copies when the project ends unless the creator agrees otherwise.

1. How these terms fit together

These Editor Terms add to the main PithPlay Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy. Everything in the main terms applies to you as an editor too, including the disclaimers, the limitation of liability, governing law and how we handle changes. Where these Editor Terms say something more specific about editors, they take priority.

By accepting an editor invitation or working on a project as an editor, you agree to these terms. They're an agreement between you and Artbits Solutions Ltd., the Ontario, Canada company that runs PithPlay.

2. How editor access works

  • By invitation only. A creator invites you by email. Invitation links expire after 7 days.
  • Free for editors. PithPlay doesn't charge editors anything. The creator's plan covers the project.
  • Only your assigned projects. You can see and work on the projects a creator assigns to you: the video, annotations, brief and assets. You can't see a creator's other projects.
  • The creator is in control. A creator decides who works on their projects, and can remove you or give a project to another editor at any time.
  • Want your own projects? You can also register as a creator. The creator plans and main terms then apply to the projects you create.

3. You're independent

  • You're an independent professional. Using PithPlay doesn't make you an employee, contractor, agent or partner of PithPlay or Artbits Solutions Ltd.
  • You're responsible for your own taxes, business registrations, insurance and any licences your work needs.
  • PithPlay doesn't find work for you, set your rates or supervise your work.

4. Your arrangement with the creator

Everything about the work itself is between you and the creator, including:

  • the scope of the work and the number of revisions;
  • how much you're paid, and how and when;
  • deadlines; and
  • who owns the edited video and any elements you create, and how each of you may use them (for example, whether you can show the work in your portfolio).
What PithPlay does and doesn't do
  • PithPlay doesn't take a cut of what creators pay you, and doesn't process payments between you.
  • PithPlay isn't a party to your agreement with the creator, and doesn't enforce it.
  • PithPlay doesn't guarantee the creator's payment, or your work, deadlines or quality.
  • PithPlay doesn't mediate disputes between creators and editors. We're happy to help with technical questions about the platform.

We strongly suggest writing down what you agree with the creator before you start, especially payment and ownership of the final edit.

5. Looking after creators' content

Creators trust you with their footage, ideas and plans. The creator keeps ownership of everything they upload, and working on a project doesn't give you any ownership of it. When you work on a project, you agree to:

  • Keep it confidential. Don't share, publish or show the creator's content to anyone else without the creator's permission.
  • Use it only for the assigned project. Don't reuse it in other work or personal projects, and don't upload it to other services (including other AI tools) unless the creator agrees.
  • Delete local copies when the project ends. Once the project is finished, or your access ends, delete any copies you downloaded, unless the creator agrees you can keep them.
  • Keep your account secure. Don't share your login, and tell us right away at support@pithplay.com if you think someone else has got in.

6. What you upload

  • Files and notes you upload to a project are visible to that project's creator.
  • You give PithPlay the same limited permission described in the main terms: we host, process and show your uploads only as needed to run PithPlay. Who owns your edits, and how the creator may use them, is for you and the creator to agree.
  • You must have the rights to anything you add to a project, such as music, stock footage, fonts, graphics or effects, for the use the creator has in mind. If something you add needs a licence the creator must buy, tell the creator.
  • Please keep your own copies of your work. PithPlay isn't a backup service.

7. AI suggestions

  • PithPlay can suggest editing guidance for tasks using AI. It's optional.
  • When you use it, project text (the brief, annotation text, task text and related details such as timestamps, asset notes and links to attached files) is sent to Microsoft Azure OpenAI, under Microsoft's enterprise terms, which do not permit using customer data to train their models. Video and audio files aren't sent.
  • AI suggestions can be wrong or miss the creator's intent. Use your own judgement. You stay responsible for your edits.

8. Conduct

The acceptable use rules in the main terms apply to you. In particular, please don't:

  • try to access projects or files you haven't been assigned, or get around access controls;
  • pretend to be the creator, or claim ownership of their content;
  • use PithPlay to harass or pressure a creator; or
  • upload content you don't have the rights to use.

9. When your access ends

Your access to a project can end because:

  • the creator removes you, gives the project to another editor, or closes the project;
  • you ask us to delete your account; or
  • we suspend or close your account for breaking these terms or the main terms.

When your access or the project ends, your confidentiality promises continue, and you should delete local copies as described in section 5. Any arrangement you have with the creator outside PithPlay continues on its own terms.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The disclaimers and limitation of liability in the main terms apply to editors. In plain terms: PithPlay is in beta and provided "as is", no software is perfect, and to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, lost income or data, or interruptions. Because editors are never charged, our total liability to you as an editor is limited to CA$50, to the extent the law allows.

If someone makes a claim against us because of content you uploaded, or because you broke these terms (for example, by sharing a creator's content without permission), the indemnity in the main terms applies.

11. Changes, governing law and contact

  • We'll tell you by email or in the app before material changes to these terms take effect.
  • These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, as set out in the main terms.
