The rules for using PithPlay, written for people rather than lawyers

Last updated: October 1, 2026
Effective date: October 1, 2026
Status: PithPlay is in beta

Plain-language summary

This summary is here to help you find your way. The full terms below are what count, and they say the same things in more detail.

In short:

  • PithPlay is run by Artbits Solutions Ltd. in Ontario, Canada. It's in beta, so features can change and things can occasionally break.
  • You keep ownership of everything you upload. You give us only the permission we need to store it, process it and show it to the people you choose.
  • Creators can use PithPlay for free, or pay monthly for Pro ($7.99 CAD) or Pro Max ($24.99 CAD), plus sales tax. Editors are never charged.
  • Upgrades start right away, and you pay the prorated difference. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the period you've already paid for. Payments aren't refundable, except where the law requires it.
  • Don't upload anything you don't have the rights to, or anything illegal or harmful. We can suspend accounts that break these rules.
  • Any deal between a creator and an editor (scope, price, deadlines, who owns the final edit) is between them. PithPlay doesn't take a cut and isn't part of that agreement.
For video editors

If you join PithPlay as an editor, these terms apply to you, and so do the Editor Terms, which cover how editor access works and how to treat creators' content.

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Artbits Solutions Ltd. ("Artbits", "we", "us"), a company based in Ontario, Canada. They cover your use of PithPlay: the website at pithplay.com, the app at app.pithplay.com, and the services behind them.

By creating an account, accepting an editor invitation or otherwise using PithPlay, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use PithPlay.

If you use PithPlay for a company or other organization, you confirm that you're allowed to accept these terms for it, and "you" includes that organization.

2. PithPlay is in beta

PithPlay works and people use it every day, but it is still being built. During the beta:

  • Features may change, move, or be removed, sometimes with little notice.
  • You may run into bugs, slowdowns or outages.
  • We may need to pause parts of the service for fixes and maintenance.
  • We'd love your feedback at support@pithplay.com. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, with no obligation to you.

3. Who can use PithPlay

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • To buy a paid plan, you must have reached the age of majority where you live (for example, 18 in Ontario).
  • If you're under the age of majority where you live, please read these terms with a parent or guardian.
  • You can't use PithPlay if the law where you live prohibits it, or if we've previously closed your account for breaking these terms.

4. Your account

  • Give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep your email address current. We use it for important messages like password resets, invitations and billing.
  • Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One account per person. Please don't share your login with others.
  • If you think someone else has got into your account, tell us right away at support@pithplay.com.

5. Creators and editors

PithPlay has two kinds of users:

  • Creators upload videos, annotate them, create projects, invite editors and choose a plan.
  • Editors join by invitation from a creator and work on the projects they're assigned. Editors are never charged by PithPlay.

PithPlay is a tool that helps creators and editors work together. We aren't an agency, we don't employ editors, and we aren't part of any agreement between a creator and an editor. Scope, payment, deadlines and ownership of the finished edit are for the two of you to agree. We don't take a cut, and we don't guarantee either side's work or payment.

6. Plans, billing and cancellation

6.1 Plans

Plan Price Storage Active projects Revision rounds per project
Free $0, forever 250 MB 3 2
Pro $7.99 CAD / month 1 GB 10 5
Pro Max $24.99 CAD / month 5 GB Unlimited 8
  • Paid plans are billed monthly. We don't offer annual billing or free trials of paid plans right now. The Free plan is the way to try PithPlay, and it doesn't need a card.
  • Each video upload can be up to 250 MB, and each revision upload up to 500 MB.
  • As a small buffer, your storage can go up to 10% over your plan's limit before new uploads are blocked.
  • Current plan details are always on our pricing page.

6.2 Prices, tax and payment

  • Prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). Sales tax is added on top at checkout based on your billing address (for example, 13% HST in Ontario).
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. PithPlay never sees or stores your full card number.
  • Paid plans renew automatically at the start of each monthly billing period until you cancel. You authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method for each renewal.
  • We may change our prices. If we do, we'll tell you before the new price applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first if you don't want to continue.

6.3 Upgrading and downgrading

  • Upgrades take effect immediately. We charge your card the prorated difference for the rest of your current billing period, plus tax. After that, you pay the new plan's price at each renewal.
  • Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep the higher plan until then. There's no refund or credit for the rest of that period.

6.4 Cancelling

  • You can cancel a paid plan at any time from the billing page in the app. Cancelling stops future charges.
  • You keep your paid features until the end of the period you've paid for. After that, your account moves to the Free plan.
  • We don't delete your data when you downgrade or cancel. If what you've stored goes over your new plan's limits, you just can't add more (for example, new uploads or projects) until you're back under the limit.

6.5 Failed payments

If a payment fails, Stripe will try again. If payment keeps failing, we may limit your access to paid features until it's sorted out. Your data stays where it is.

6.6 Refunds

Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund or where we decide to give one at our discretion. Because downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of your billing period, you keep what you've paid for until that period ends.

7. Your content

7.1 You own it

"Your content" means what you put into PithPlay: videos, images, audio, reference files, annotations, project briefs, notes and revisions. You keep all ownership of it. These terms don't give us ownership of any of it.

7.2 The permission you give us

So that PithPlay can work, you give Artbits Solutions Ltd. a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, display and transmit your content, only as needed to provide PithPlay to you. That includes streaming your videos, sharing project content with the editor you assign, creating download links, and generating AI suggestions when you or your editor choose to use that feature. This licence ends when your content is deleted from our systems, except for copies in backups, which expire on their own schedule. We don't sell your content, and we don't use it to train AI models.

7.3 You need the rights to what you upload

You confirm that you own your content or have every permission needed to upload it and to let your editor work with it. This includes music, footage, images and people who appear in your videos.

7.4 Who can see it

  • A creator's project content (video, annotations, brief and assets) is visible to the editor the creator assigns to that project.
  • Files and notes an editor uploads to a project are visible to that project's creator.
  • Download links are signed links that expire. Handoff links expire after 7 days. Once someone downloads a file, that copy is outside our control.

7.5 Keep your own copies

PithPlay isn't a backup service. Please keep your own copies of your original files and anything else you can't afford to lose.

8. Acceptable use

Please use PithPlay for real creative work, and treat other people well. Don't use PithPlay to:

  • upload or share anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • upload sexually explicit material, or anything that exploits or endangers children;
  • harass, threaten, bully or discriminate against anyone, or share hateful content;
  • upload malware, or anything designed to damage or interfere with systems or data;
  • try to get into accounts or projects that aren't yours, test or break our security, or get around plan limits, rate limits or access controls;
  • overload the service, scrape it, or use bots to access it in ways a normal person wouldn't;
  • copy, resell or reverse engineer PithPlay, or build a competing product from it;
  • impersonate someone or misrepresent who you are; or
  • send spam or unwanted invitations.

If you break these rules, we may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close your account. Where it's safe and legal to do so, we'll tell you why.

To report misuse, or if you believe something on PithPlay infringes your rights, email info@pithplay.com with the details and we'll look into it.

9. AI features

  • PithPlay offers optional AI task suggestions that turn a project's feedback into editing guidance. Nothing is sent to the AI service unless someone on the project chooses to use the feature.
  • When it's used, we send project text (the brief, annotation text, task text and related details such as timestamps, asset notes and links to attached files) to Microsoft Azure OpenAI. We don't send your video or audio files themselves.
  • This runs under Microsoft's enterprise terms, which do not permit using customer data to train their models.
  • AI suggestions can be wrong, incomplete or a poor fit for your project. Review them before you rely on them. You and your editor stay responsible for the creative decisions and the final edit.
  • AI features may change or be unavailable at times, especially during the beta.

10. Services we rely on

PithPlay is built on trusted providers, including Google Firebase (sign-in), Cloudflare (hosting, file storage and email delivery), MongoDB on Microsoft Azure (our database), Stripe (payments) and Microsoft Azure OpenAI (optional AI suggestions). Our Privacy Policy explains what each one does with your data.

When you pay, you'll use Stripe's checkout and billing pages, and Stripe's own terms and privacy policy also apply there. We aren't responsible for outages or problems caused by these providers, though we'll do what we reasonably can to work around them.

11. Changes to PithPlay and availability

  • We work to keep PithPlay running smoothly, but we can't promise it will always be available, fast or free of errors.
  • We may change, add or remove features. If a change significantly reduces what a paid plan includes, we'll tell you before it takes effect.
  • Support is by email at support@pithplay.com. We reply as soon as we reasonably can, but we don't guarantee a response time.

12. PithPlay's own property

PithPlay's software, design, name and logo belong to Artbits Solutions Ltd. While you follow these terms, we give you a personal, non-transferable right to use PithPlay. That doesn't give you any ownership of PithPlay itself, or the right to use our name or branding without our permission.

13. Suspending or closing accounts

13.1 If you want to leave

  • You can cancel a paid plan at any time (see section 6.4).
  • There's no self-serve account deletion yet. To delete your account and content, email info@pithplay.com from the email address on your account. We'll delete them within 30 days, except records we must keep by law, such as invoices for tax and accounting.
  • Please download anything you want to keep before you ask us to delete your account. Deletion can't be undone.

13.2 If we need to act

We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if:

  • it breaks these terms or the law;
  • it creates a security risk or harms other users or PithPlay;
  • payment for a paid plan keeps failing; or
  • the law or a valid legal request requires us to.

Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem or download your content. If we close your account for a reason that isn't your fault (for example, if we shut PithPlay down), we'll give you notice where we can and refund the unused part of any period you've paid for.

13.3 What still applies afterwards

Anything you owe us, and the sections on content, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law, continue to apply after your account is closed.

14. Disclaimers

Using PithPlay with the right expectations

Technology is an ever-evolving field, and PithPlay is in beta. We've done what is reasonable to safeguard your data and privacy: encrypted connections, access checks, expiring download links and careful choice of providers. But no software is perfect or error-free, and no system is completely secure.

  • PithPlay is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we don't make any promises (warranties) about it beyond those written in these terms, including promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or fit for a particular purpose.
  • Files can be lost or corrupted, links can fail and features can misbehave. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
  • We aren't responsible for what users upload or say, or for the quality, timing or payment of work agreed between creators and editors.
  • AI suggestions are only suggestions. Check them before you rely on them.
  • Some places don't allow certain warranties to be excluded. Where that's the case, these exclusions apply only as far as your local law permits.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows:

  • Artbits Solutions Ltd., and its directors, employees and suppliers, aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, including lost profits, revenue or business opportunities, lost or corrupted data, or service interruptions, even if we were told they were possible.
  • Our total liability for all claims relating to PithPlay or these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) CA$50. If you're on the Free plan or you're an editor, that means CA$50.

Some places don't allow these limits, for example for harm caused by gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for certain consumer rights. Where that's the case, the limits apply only as far as your local law permits, and nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived. By using PithPlay, you accept it on this understanding.

16. If someone makes a claim because of your content

If someone makes a claim against us because of content you uploaded, or because you broke these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim, including reasonable legal fees, to the extent the law allows. We'll let you know about the claim and won't settle it in a way that makes you admit fault without your agreement.

17. Changes to these terms

  • We'll update these terms as PithPlay changes. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
  • For material changes, we'll tell you by email or in the app before the changes take effect.
  • If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using PithPlay and cancel your plan before the change takes effect. If you keep using PithPlay after that, the updated terms apply.
  • Previous versions are available on request.

18. Governing law and disputes

  • These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
  • If something goes wrong, please contact us first at info@pithplay.com. Most problems can be sorted out quickly that way.
  • If we can't resolve it, disputes will be handled by the courts of Ontario, Canada, unless the consumer protection law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
  • Disputes between a creator and an editor about their own arrangement are between them. We can help with technical questions about PithPlay.

19. The fine print, briefly

  • These terms, the Editor Terms (for editors) and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about PithPlay.
  • If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we don't enforce a part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You can't transfer your account or these terms to someone else without our permission. We may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or reorganization, and we'll tell you if that happens.
  • We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as major outages at our providers, natural disasters or changes in law.
